Dialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy

Teaching teens and adolescents to regulate emotions, tolerate distress, and build meaningful relationships.

What Is Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) was originally developed for adults with intense emotional dysregulation and has since been adapted with strong evidence for adolescents. DBT teaches four core skill sets that help teens manage overwhelming emotions and improve relationships.

At Deborah Howell 4 Kids, DBT-informed therapy is offered individually and, when appropriate, with family involvement to ensure skills are practiced and reinforced at home.
